Late 90s saw many MNCs coming to India seeing human resources at cheaper cost and average talent level. Big companies also saw the big market being ready for low end products. Where companies wanted to tweak around the products and get into the Indian Market. That worked for few giants like who had been in end product side. But same was not true who had been in between the supply chain! Examples- Hyndai car manufacturing was quite successful though many suppliers could not scale up to their demands and quality level(my perception only)!!
One of the reason we see that the work force was not ready for complete supply chain but consumption pattern was changing and volume foreseen was - high .
Now it is great to see that the entire echo system is being created for complete supply chain. In next 5 yrs there would be stabilization in the workforce for the supply chain at every level. Salary will be stabilized, job description will be matured, accountability will be clear and demands from employees will be reasonable.
